extended mix (A Spatial Investigation of a Musical Form)
“(extended mix) A Spatial Investigation of a Musical Form” works as a visualization of the means of musical remixing. Starting with a collage, the originating source material of the installation, samples are turned into rhythm sections—enlarged, repeated, flipped, and juxtaposed with other samples. Using a rhythm heavy visual language system at an architectural scale, certain phrases are elevated to the status of chorus or refrain through repetition as in the form of a song. The architectural scale of the work allows for an immersive experience in which there is not one privileged point of view, but a multitude of sight lines revealed by moving through the installation.
